Ron Artest is proving, once again, that he is the craziest individual that the NBA has. No, he did not jump into the stands again and attack another fan or two – he is doing something much crazier. Ron Artest has decided to auction off his 2009-10 NBA Championship ring! Artest is auctioning off a piece of jewelry that symbolizes one of the greatest achievements in sports – winning a championship. This may be a piece of bling that he will never get again – it’s rare. For only $2 you can purchase a raffle ticket that will give you a shot at winning Ron Ron’s championship bling. Even if you’re not a Laker fan, spending $2 for a chance to win a massive and major piece of NBA memorabilia is a no-brainer.

Crazy?

While Artest rarely has a reasonable explanation for any of his antics, he actually has a good one this time. Any and all money raised from this auction will be used to help support mental health awareness, with a focus on helping children. In an interview with NBA.com, Artest explained his reasoning behind his actions, “You work so hard to get a ring, and now you have a chance to help more people than just yourself. What’s better than that? For me, this is very important.”

Artest needs to be commended for what he is doing. No matter how crazy I think it is, he is performing an amazing act of kindness that will undoubtedly benefit hundreds, or even thousands, of children. Now that I’m thinking about it, Ron Artest isn’t crazy – he’s probably the most mentally healthy person I know. Artest is taking an item that millions of Laker fans would kill for and he is giving it away, all in order to help people.

Now I’m saying Ron Artest is sane…I’m the crazy one.
