Pau Gasol and Rajon Rondo were named the Players of the Week for the Western and Eastern Conference, respectively.
Pau scorched through the first week of the season averaging 25.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, five assists and two blocks per game. If you have had a chance to watch Pau this season, it’s easy to see that Pau really is the most-skilled big man in the NBA today. Who needs Andrew Bynum when you’ve got Spanish Fly?
Rondo decided to do his best John Stockton impression this week by dishing out FIFTY assists over three games – tying a record for most assists over the first three games of the season. Currently he is averaging 10.7 points, 16.7 assists, 6.3 rebounds and two steals per game.
It’s nice that these two guys can win awards like this, because they sure aren’t winning any beauty contests. Congratulations boys!
